Putting Drivers First

WHY PRO DRIVERS HEALTH?

I have previously worked in the transport industry for many years, my curious nature alerted me to the fact that I witnessed many ailments and deaths amongst colleagues. This had to be challenged and investigated, as I had never before worked in any industry where illness and fatalities amongst work colleagues were so high. Having previously worked in recreation sports and leisure management, I would not pass up this opportunity to apply some old skills of individual health and well-being to assist fellow workers, my employers, and professional drivers around the world.

Finding the drive to complete this manual I had to lean on my spirit, drive and determination. My character would not allow me to walk away without aiding this dilemma. Seeing people in need seems to activate my community initiative to help.

Having spent my childhood years growing up living across the road from a special needs school, called Shelly School on Wincott Street. Kennington SW11. I would spend a lot of time sitting on my doorstep watching the children with special needs, this groomed my fascination for people who have conditions which make their individual lives more challenging. These childhood observations have equipped me with a passion to try and provide solutions for a better healthier lifestyle for people.

I was not going to pass up this opportunity to apply some old skills of individual health and wellness to assist fellow workers, my employers, and Professional Drivers worldwide.

Chapter 7

This concluding chapter looks at all the information gathered in compiling this manual for professional drivers asking a question as to whom is to blame for this industry that has such a high level of ailments that some insurance companies insure life cover extra high. It is my opinion that the industry has done a vast amount of research and painstaking analysis to try and reduce the number of deaths and long-suffering ailments in the industry, This is done by improvements to the vehicles needed in this vast wide surface driving industry. The fact that there seems to be very little historical information on drivers' participation in exercises and healthy eating highlights an oversight in the care of the industry's workforce. This leads me to acknowledge that the driver needs to address their health and wellness, being in charge of his or her mobility plans now and well into retirement.
